President Trump to speak at Mount Rushmore to celebrate July 4, nation's 250th anniversary
The backdrop for his speech will again be the Mount Rushmore National Memorial that includes a 60-foot-high granite sculpture depicting U.S. presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln.
President Trump is scheduled to speak Friday night at Mount Rushmore to celebrate July 4 and of the nation’s 250th anniversary.
The event will include military flyovers, precision drill demonstrations and fireworks. South Dakota Gov. Larry Rhoden and Interior Secretary Doug Burgum are set to speak before the president, according to The New York Times.
Trump returns after six years, when he was at the end of his first term and campaigning for another. The governor was Republican Kristi Noem, who was until recently Trump's second-term Interior Department secretary. The first event was remarkable for being held amid the pandemic, when other states, largely led by Democrats, would not allow mass gatherings.
