President Donald Trump on Monday rang the opening bell for the New York Stock Exchange and the NASDAQ from the Oval Office.

Video footage showed the president ring a small bell placed on top of his desk for the ceremony. Present for the event were a litany of CEOs and young children, who had gathered to celebrate the launch of "Trump accounts," according to CNBC.

Trump accounts are an administration initiative to provide investment accounts for young Americans to use when they grow older. The accounts have received funds from both the U.S. Treasury and a multitude of private donations.

The accounts include $1,000 dollars from the U.S. Treasury and have received billions in support from private individuals, including Dell CEO Michael Dell and Micron CEO Sanjay Mehrotra.
